Prague 2013 - Day Three

After all the excitement of the zoo the previous day, day three was earmarked as our cultural/historical day. With plans to check out the castle and cathedral we ventured across the river to the old side of Prague. First stop was Petrin hill for the funicular railway (who puts the fun in funicular?), once at the top of the hill we wandered around taking snaps and enjoying the lovely sunshine.

Then we decided to venture up the observation tower to check out the view...

After a quick refuelling of hotdogs to help us recover from the exertion of climbing the steps (okay we cheated and only went up to the first level - but the view was fantastic from there, so I have no complaints) we strolled along to the castle, Prazsky hrad.

The castle and surrounding areas were extremely beautiful and interesting but the jewel in crown was the cathedral. St. Vitus Cathedral is the biggest church in Czech Republic, and a magnificent example of Gothic architecture. I don't think my pictures do it justice but I recommend you stop in if you visit Prague, if only to check out the stained glass windows.

We spent the rest of the day wandering round, stopping for beer and pizza, finishing at the Torture Museum. It was certainly a educational experience.
