Day Five - Iceand, Reykjavik

Our final morning in Iceland was spent in Reykjavik. There were only a couple of hours before our flight home and we wanted to get out and see as much as we could.

We didn't have a map, or anywhere in particular we wanted to visit so we wandered around to see what we would bump into. This turned out to be a great decision as we managed to see some charming buildings and stunning gardens.

Reykjavik is a beautiful city, and I found it to be a very serene place to amble through. I really enjoyed viewing the traditional style architecture with the clean colours and lines of the buildings. At some points I felt I had gone back in time and left the hectic modern world behind.

Reykjavik is also a wonderful city for art and culture. Everytime we turned a corner we were greeted by a different sculpture or colourful artwork.

There was only one thing that disappointed me and that was that we didn't have more time in Reykjavik. There are supposed to be amazing restaurants showcasing local ingredients and Nordic specialities but we only had an hour left before our coach took us back to the airport. We decided to take this opportunity to head back to the harbour for a final stroll.

I'm always sad to leave Iceland. It's a beautiful country and I find it very peaceful. However whenever I leave I always go knowing there is so much more for me to see and experience, and that just means I always have a plan to return.
