Now Stuart's conference had finished we were ready for the proper holiday to begin. The most important thing we had to do was visit the Aquarium of the Pacific. One of their best exhibits were the sea otters. Unfortunately my photos of the otters didn't come out too well but they looked like big watery playful teddy bears.
It was ridiculously busy at the aquarium but we fought our way past all the (noisy) school children to make sure we checked everything out, and I even got to stroke a jellyfish and baby tiger shark!
The best part of the aquarium however was the Lorikeet exhibition. We paid a couple of dollars each for a little tub of nectar and went into the exhibition to see if the birds were hungry. I'm glad to say they were!
One of the lorikeets was so friendly he decided to nibble on my neck and it was only when we left the exhibition we realised I was bleeding - I must have smelled as sweet as nectar. After all that excitement it was time for a boat trip through the harbour.
The main purpose of the trip was to look for whales but before that we noticed we had an extra someone who wanted to join the trip.
And then in the distance a few sharp eyes on the boat noticed something...
As we got closer I was excited to see two grey whales out for a jolly. I really didn't think we'd get to see whales on this trip so when we got on the boat I was just happy to go out to sea, seeing two whales together was so much more than I expected. We stayed a good distance from the whales so I couldn't really get a true feeling of exactly how big they were but it was just amazing to see them out there.
Before I knew it our time was up and we had to head back to dry land, with a final wave to the whales we left.
Next stop, Las Vegas!
